This data set was extracted from data received from the Division of Environmental Quality DWIMS data received during 1999. Several tables were provided with the original DWIMS data. The Source6 (src6) table contains well information including latitude and longitude values for well locations. There are six tables with sample data: The Iocs6 (Inorganic compounds), Rads6 (Radionuclides), Socs6 (Synthetic organic compounds), and Vocs26 (Volatile organic compounds). The well information was linked to the sample data using the Tagnumb field.

On September 25th it was discovered that only a portion of the DEQ DWIMS data had Tagnumb values which restricted full use of the data set. Per telephone conversion with Dottie Martin at DEQ we identified that the Source6 table contained a composite key (pwsno and srce_id) and the sample tables contains a composite key (pwsno and locnumb) that could be related. This relation is only an inference of how the data is related and is not documented by DEQ. With this information, it was requested that the DEQ data be extracted from the original data set based upon the composite key criteria. The processing steps for the data are as follows:

  1. The data from the DEQ Source6 table was exported from Microsoft Access 97
  2. The table was imported into ESRI Arcview 3.2
  3. Those records without Latitude and Longitude values were removed
  4. The remaining data was projected from decimal degrees to State Plane NAD 1983 Idaho East
  5. The data was clipped to retain only those well locations within the RGI study area
  6. The clipped table was then imported back into Access
  7. An SQL query was written to select those records from the sample data that contained the composite key that related to the composite key in the Source6 table. The selected records were placed into a new table.
