Objectives
The growing population in Bannock County has expanded its Wildfire-Urban Interface (WUI) areas and increased the population density in the WUI. Based on past occurrences, wildfire is a real threat to the residents with wildfires occurring each year. Changes in WUI carry consequences relative to flood mitigation and also interact with wildfire accelerants such as drought and severe weather. WUI expansion --in combination with regular drought conditions-- translates to more people and property exposed to fire hazards. This project seeks to enhance the capabilities of Bannock County Office of Emergency Management by providing spatial data to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from wildfire and drought events.
