A Beginners Guide to GIS (101). This special workshop is designed for people new to GIS. We describe and discover what GIS is and how Geographic Information Systems work. Topics include architecture, Geographic Reference Systems, databases, and a sneak peak of fun-GIS capabilities such as fly-through software and 3D visualizations. This is an eight hour workshop facilitated by Sheldon Bluestein and Jack Clark. Prerequisites: familiarity with computers. Intended audience: anyone with an interest in GIS.
