Here is a little bit about my role at the GIS Center:
As system administrator, I get to do a variety of things from installing programs to cleaning finger prints off of the monitors. My main tasks are printing posters, using the large format scanner, and working on various projects as they come in.
Some of the different projects I have worked on include creating GIS based running cards for the Pocatello Fire Department, determining accuracy of road coverages for the Idaho Transportation Department, and reprojecting the two thousand plus datasets on the Spatial Library as well as creating metadata for those datasets. I published a paper with Keith Weber and Thomas Windholz on a GPS Accuracy study we did in the summer of 2004. Currently,I help edit the street centerline database for the Bannock 911 system with the City of Pocatello, the City of Chubbuck, and Bannock County. I'm also involved in promoting a real time GPS network for the state of Idaho and currently serve as the secretary for the Northern Rockies Chapter of URISA.
I graduated in the summer of 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in History and the GeoTechnologies Minor. After graduation, I was hired at the GIS Center as a research assistant and systems administrator.
When I am not down in the GIS Center, I am a girl of many activities and interests. I enjoy playing basketball (or any other sport involving a ball), reading, spending time with my family and friends, and baking.
